Was this is a change in the procedures of USCIS? If yes, could we not request them to increase the length of the EAD from 1 to 5 years? This will help many of us too. I need to get my DL renewed every year along with the EAD.
Well there was court case related what constitues the 6 years where court said that only period of stay on H1b in US (so period of stay outside US on H1b) doesnt count.
So the law didnt change its the interpreation of law that was changed by the court case.
Same logic goes with H4 (they dont work on H1B ) so it was a matter of time someone would also challenge that on court and win.
uscis decided to do that based on the interpreation of course case

Friends, what is the use of screaming here in this forum? We should become more effective in getting our point of view across, as the important people just don't get it. We should pay attention to the way we are highlighting our issues, or else our questions will continue to be struck down by lame explanations
For one, it might have been better to ask: What are you going to do about the visa backlogs that have long delays like 10 years and more?

My lawyer is asking 350 for EAD and 500 for AP for each person excluding filing fees.Is it normal.or Can I go to another lawyer for EAD and AP who is cheaper than my company lawyer.
Thats a lot of money for EAD & AP. The law firm might be charging 2 grand for your 485 and another grand for your spouse's 485. You dont need a lawyer for filing EAD & AP. You can file them youself along with the 485 application or after getting a receipt number from USCIS for your 485 application. Ask your law firm to prepare 485 for you and your spouse and return the application packet to you. You can sign it off, add your EAD & AP applications and send it to NSC. I supsect they would be willing to do so. By not giving them they would be forcing you to file EAD & AP through them, given that the fees for everything is going up from next month.

I took Lufthansa and traveled in November via Frankfurt with out a valid visa and did not had any issues with the transit visa. I had visa while coming back.

Folks,
Just now i called up USCIS (1-800-375-5283 Option 1,2,2,6,2,2,1) since my App was mailed more than 4 weeks.
The lady who picked up was nice enough to explain me the revised ETA for receipting from 4 weeks to 60 Calendar days. She also said that they generally receipts in 2 weeks (not even 4 weeks) but because of this rush that ETA is set to 60 days. She appreciated all of our anxiety and re-assured me that i dont have to call after 60 days because the receipt will be definitely with me ( if everything is filed correctly as per rules )
One thing i found funny - she explained me that this Rush is just for avoiding the 'Fee Increase' - She has no idea about the Retrogression and stuffs like that :)
Good luck guys - chat with you after another 29 days !!
The comment about the "Fee Increase" might be partially true. There is surely a surge in number of application for Naturalization, to avoid the few increase... Atleast I know a couple of friends who applied for citizenship....

there are no elections scheduled this year or late into next year.
To link unemployment with illegal immigration is a far stretch...
a.) what is the proof that illegals here are not already employed?
b.) Do illegals and citizens/legals compete for the same job? --> probably Not
It only means these faceless humans will get some rights and protection...
illegal immigration is one of the main source of flesh trade from eastern europe and latin america....
BUT the socio-economic impact this will have on US as a whole is a whole new topic...
If this is true, how come CIR is one of the main agendas of democratic party. Also remember hispanic votes were a deciding factor in the last election. GOP acknowledges that. Moreover voters demographics has changed since last election. Electorate is comprised of higher percentage of forward thinking younger generation.
IMO anti-immigrant racist voter percentage will be on decline in coming years. So democrats/gop is better off catering to the likes of this younger generation.

I suggest you wait and see if you can reconcile your differences......Marriage is a life long commitment. Remember we fall in love and we work on our marriages. Try reading the book called "5 Love Languages" by Gary Chapman....It is an excellent book for couples who are on the verge of breaking or even for couples who want to enhance their married life.

I am a Hindu by birth.
Did my schooling from a catholic school and know Bible's stories by heart and also had led choirs.
Did my B.S. Mechanical engineering from a prominent miniority university, Aligarh Muslim University.
So you see, I would be the last person to use this story to stereotype folks from any particular religon.
I will conclude by saying that polygamy in India is almost non existent. The story cited here is unique, irrespective of what religion the person belongs to, even though the laws may be permitting in certain cases.

Right now for all bills that Zoe proposed there are max 19 co sponser for this last bill. DID you check for STRIVE ACT 2007 which had 78 co-sponsers still could not make it to floor.
We need to call these lawmakers and educated them on these bills.
Chances are less but our investment is not that big. Few minutes in a day to call or write.
