It may be right. Knowing the Indian government well, they would be the first ones interested in keeping as many people as they could on H visa, so that they would have transferable income to India. India would have even less reasons in any immigration reform for US permanent residency, as that could make us settle here and say bye, bye to India government and their cash cow.

gcseeker, u just spoke my mind, this was exactly what was going in my mind, when i decided not to take transit visa. i just cant believe, there is another soul who thinks just the way, i thought, look at my PD, came to US in 1999, still no GC after 12 years, planning to leave back to india for good, this year..oh well, life goes on..

Folks, I have just told my experience, rest is upto you if you want to get the transit visa .

I will like to ask your brain if this could be a problem as i did my H1 B Transfer twice before appling for my I 485 and everything went sucessful my GC sponsering Company is not in good terms they might have even revoke my I 140.
Is there any way to find out if my I 140 was revoked.
I applied my I 485 and EAD in July last year my H 1 B was transfered in March Last year i got my EAD's and Finger printing is also done.
But my PD is Dec 2001 so i have already crossed 180 Days and now have the right to use AC21, do i have to file any particular letter for this.
Can you guys please advice i will really appriciate your help.

I just got my EAD yesterday (with 1 year validity even though PD is not current). My company lawyer will contact USCIS about this, will update once I have any info.
Received only one year EAD .I will have to call USCIS for incorrect validity date of issued EAD.
Did anybody contact USCIS regarding 1 year validity?

Thanks for your prompt replies. It is good to get reliable first hand information from travelers instead of relying upon reports from consulates, airline websites etc which all contradict one another. Just out of curiosity, did anybody in India or Frankfurt ask to see the Advance Parole papers before allowing you to board the flight?

I dont know about other members but it is hard for me to blv that IIT's and IIM's will come to US for a masters degree coz they could not find a job in India or they could not get an admit in a master's program.
If that was the case people would have stopped going got IIT's/IIM's. Why will someone work so hard to get to the top most program - to not get a job and then pursue MS from US OF A????
I think the IIT's/IIM's come here they MOSTLY (not all) come here for a purpose....research/money/better life/whatevet.....

The Senate is currently considering the FY 2008 Department of Defense Authorization (H.R. 1585). Senators Specter and Leahy have offered the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act as an amendment to the bill; and Senators Durbin, Hagel, and Lugar are planning to offer the DREAM Act as an amendment. Call your senators now and urge them to vote YES on these amendments!

On a similar note, I kept reminding people at the DC rally to take it easy and walk slowly because the greencard office had closed early that day and they wouldn't get their GCs at the rally finish line, what was the hurry about? :)
Or is there a need to change the IV strategy and leadership?
